Silicon Motion NVMe / Intel N38 QLC – Page marker checking and ECC errors after custom translator creation

Hello,

I have a 1 TB NVMe SSD based on a Silicon Motion controller. SM2263XT

The loader can be uploaded successfully and the custom translator creation completes. However, there is no usable logical access afterwards.

SSD/NAND information:

Loader 1: MPISP_SI001A.bin
Loader 2: [second loader name]

NAND ID: 89 D3 AC 32 C6 00
Vendor: Intel
Type: 144L N38 QLC 16K
Channels: 4
Total chips: 8
Planes per chip: 4
LUNs per chip: 1
Blocks per chip: 0x0102
Pages per block: 0x9000
Page size: 0x4000
Max retry level: 0x00

Estimated SSD capacity:
2,000,409,264 LBA

During translator creation, many messages appear:

- L2P table checking error
- Invalid block
- Invalid chunk
- Bad pages count
- ECC error

The translator creation itself completes.

A Data Extractor task was created from the active PC-3000 utility. All tested logical sectors are either:

1. empty/zero-filled, or
2. black with “Page marker checking error”, or
3. black with “ECC error”.

No valid GPT, partition structure or file-system structures are visible.

Please confirm whether this exact controller, firmware and Intel N38 QLC configuration is fully supported.

Is a newer/custom loader, another NAND configuration, a different page-marker configuration or Read Retry support required?

Additional information:

The values “Model SM2260”, “Firmware 1030” and “Capacity 1 GB”
are displayed only after uploading the loader and are not the original
SSD identification data.

Exact SSD model: Silicon Power A60

PC-3000 Portable software version: 7.7.21
Second loader used: MPISP_U0817A_HYNV6.bin

Both loaders produce the same result:
translator creation completes, but there is no usable logical access.

At this moment QLC chips are not supported in SM226x Utilities, doesn't matter is it SM2263XT, SM2262EN, SM2263En, SM2267XT or SM2269XT.
