Turning off/On drive on SATA0 restarts drive on SATA1 drive

Postby osity » 21.07.16, 17:22

When I turn on/off a drive on SATA0 it also restarts the drive on SATA1. This happens all the time. I believe there is something wrong with my PC-3000 UDMA.
What can I do?

This happens to mine too sometimes. But what I usually do is that, I start with one that shuts down the other SATA and after a minute I start the other one.
I hope this helps.

I start my channels at different times also.
Ssometimes it makes a difference sometimes it doesn't. Size of the drive doesnt make a difference although I usually notice it happens when i have a 3.5" drive on each channel.

Have you contacted Ace about this? I have contacted them and I've been waiting for weeks now. They told me to change the motherboard.
That seems a bit extreme. What board are you using?

Im using Gigabyte GA-H97-D3H

Hi, i would try to change motherboard and ReInstall a fresh clean system. I never had that problem and i am using ASUS H87-PRO Motherboard. Working Perfect.

Good luck!

If I was experiencing this problem I think I would try another power supply before I try a motherboard. Just an idea.

I am using a Cooler Master 750W 80PLUS Bronze G750M power supply.
This happens even if nothing is on the SATA/power connectors. Just turning one channel on restarts the other channel. I will try another power supply.

We recommend to use very powerful Power Supply blocks, with 650-700W. It should be "true" watts, not "Chinese" :)
I have the same problem on my machine with 2 internal HDD, Core i7 2600 and 8GB RAM, when I plug more than 2 drive on my Express. Better to change your block - it should help ;)
With best regards

I've never seen this issue myself. But then I'm running an express card with a 1000W Vampire power supply. I learned years ago that it's not worth cheaping out on your power supply. You'd be amazed how many hardware issues ultimately trace back to a crappy $40 ps.

I tried a 1375W Enermax and the problem stopped.

....so to be sure I installed the Cooler master 750W 80Plus Bronze again and the problem is still gone!
.... perhaps the connection on one of the power connectors wasn't firmly making contact but its all good now.....if it acts up again... I will put back in the Enermax!

Thanks for letting us know! I'm glad it worked out and your PC-3000 is not defective.
