ST31000528AS stops reading on every bad sector (Head0)

Postby comasutra » 25.02.19, 22:40

Hi Friends,

drive IDs well, reads data on head 1,2,3 100% but when i try to read data from Head 0 it "freezes" on every bad sector and after that doesn't read (or try to read) any sector until restart. Bad Sector reading occurs every ~1778-1779 sectors and sometimes LossOfReadyness. I don't think it's head or media damage problem. Is it translator/g-list problem and how to solve this?

Thanks for help!
Regards, Boerge

Try dropping the timeout down to something like 150ms and read head 0 using PIO mode. Often that'll help.
