I see no reason why it shouldnt.

To be absolutely sure, place patient PCB on donor HDD (or vice versa) - if it spins and motor starts then it will be good. If no motor start then there is some incompatibility between preamps/

This is correct.

Or, just connect terminal on both drives and see preamp version. Patient drive doesn't need to fully spin up and unlatch damaged heads, just power on and off instantly.
