I have an exact donor drive, replaced the heads on the bad drive. Do I need to unsolder the 8 pron chip from the original pcb and solder it to the pcb of the donor heads? The drive comes up ready drd and dsc, but when running the utility ERR and ABR...

If problem is with heads, why change ROM between PCBs?

Probably your problem is compatibility of donor / patient parts.

There is no incompatibility, it is an exact donor drive... The head mapping is stored in the 8 pron chip, which is particular to each drive even when it is the same model, etc.. This is my understanding..

Compatibility is not so clear with CLA series.

You say is identical, post here details of patient and donor.

In CLA utility can table of modules be read?
