HUS156030VLS600 - Power fault

Postby craig.lawson » 20.02.13, 13:37

Hi All,

I don't have a huge amount of experience with this type of drive so I was wondering if anyone else could provide any guidance?

The drive will not power up, a simple PCB swap allows the drive to power up and spin freely, but it is obviously not recognized correctly, now I expect there is a serial flash chip on there with adaptive data and I think I have narrowed it down to a Winbond chip (25X40ALIG).

Does anyone have any more experience with this type of drive that can assist / confirm my findings?

I have been trying to upload some images of the PCB / components but the forum appears to not want to let me! I will upload elsewhere if anyone wants to see images. Thanks in advance for any a suggestions.

Update: I have performed the ROM swap with the Winbond chip onto an identical donor PCB and have been able to clone the disk in question
