HDP725016GLA380 HEAD SWAPP EASY?

Hello everyone.

I have a Hitachi PC drive Model HDP725016GLA380 with heads problem.

I like to know if I need special tool for head swappping, and if the heads must be separated between them when be removed? I saw in other posts the Hitachei heads are not sensitive, is that correct? And this is equal for laptop heads?

Hi,

Based on what you're telling, seems that you don't have much experience swapping heads.
I would try it on some test drives before doing it on a real case.
Also, the heads should not contact with each other.

Thanks Databalance. I opened the drive in a cleanroom. One head is broked. and if you see in the attached picture there is a ring in the edge of the platter. Do you know if the heads replacement may works even that ring in the platter? Or the new heads will damage because of that? I have a donor in house, so I like to try if somebody have any experience with this situation.

The picture doesn't have very good quality, but if that in outer diameter is a ring, it's a huge one.
You don't have much chances really, as I even think SA is located there.
