Hi Folks,
A client that brought me a 64GB SD card, which video’s were taken with a Sony a7s II and formatted on a Canon 5d mark II.. The files that he looks for are AVCHD(MTS).
I tried to scan it with all the possible tools I’ve got without luck. All of them finds only MOV videos that shows only one image with distorted sound, and looking at the Binary Headers of these MOV files i see the Canon footprint name. None of the tools managed to create a AVCHD/MTS files as required.
The card binary is not zeroed and full with data.
Anyone experienced anything like that and had a solution?
Would love to hear your opinion in the matter.
Thanks and enjoy your day

Hi to all,
try to use this GREP signature for *.MTS files:
(@4\x47\x40\x00\x10\x00\x00\xB0\x11\x00\x00\xC1)*(@398\xC1\x00)

Re: AVCHD(MTS) files
I suspect the problem may be that the camera fragments the files with metadata. It's becoming more and more common as the resolution is getting higher. If the files are copied off the SD card they get defragmented during copying, but if the card is formatted they are harder to recover by signature due to foreign blocks of data.

Well,
We Have Reached Ver 6.4 In PC3K ,Have the engineers at acelab still not a convincing thought that mts files are used in more then 50% photographers cameras ? . Why is this not in default in your raw tool .Secondly most new cameras are fragmenting and storing data ,Your raw tool has no ability to handle fragmented raw recovery ,I suggest you folks tell your developers to look into this please
