Hello
I've just received an Seagate Barracuda Grenada Disks (or at least it does look like it), however it does not have original label.
I assume it's some kind of home-made refubrished disk, since model is displayed as TP0503020003000A, while PC3K shows me ID OOS3000G with "00000" serial and hillarious "zzzzffff" firmware.
It's impossible to access SA on it - cannot ulock tech mode, therafore i am unable to do anything.
Did anyone of saw disk like this one before?
Question about TPPG drives - what is this?

Re: Question about TPPG drives - what is this?
It should be unlockable with the same patch for locked Grenada I assume - It probably is 100% same disk but new label and ID parameters modified for specific purpose.
Re: Question about TPPG drives - what is this?
Patching does not help - drive goes to BSY state after switching power supply ON/OFF - and stays bsy forever.
Re: Question about TPPG drives - what is this?
did you send handshake command?
Post here terminal log after repower with patch written

Re: Question about TPPG drives - what is this?
Yes i did, however i guess it's not a patch problem, since LOG displays this :
En Tech err! Tech state 0xFF, 0xFF010000
I can access terminal - it's not locked. However when i try to use anything else than basic commands, or press CTRL + L it displays:
Overlay PartNum: 10060942
CFW PartNum: 05272014
Overlay CompileDate: 20131006
CFW CompileDate: 20140527

Re: Question about TPPG drives - what is this?
Do you see DWF status register on attempts to read? Can you see T> prompt? Can you read any system files manually? does the log give any errors such as LED errors or SIM errors?
We really need more details as the details you provided already are quite vague and non-detailed. Post the entire log (including terminal log) here if it is more useful to you, but we really need more to go on before we can advise anything at all.

Re: Question about TPPG drives - what is this?
I've just updated my previous post the same time you were typing yours. I've attached Terminal Log. Yes i can acces it, however outside of basic commands i cannot do anything becouse of overlay compatibility check failed.
I cannot read any system file/module manually. Log displays this error:
Tech Key...
En Tech err! Tech state 0xFF, 0xFF010000
Error starting command "En Tech" (Drive is not ready)
Entire Terminal Log since booting:
Boot 0x40M
Spin Up
SpinOK

(P) SATA Reset
ASCII Diag mode

Overlay PartNum: 10060942
CFW PartNum: 05272014
Overlay CompileDate: 20131006
CFW CompileDate: 20140527

Re: Question about TPPG drives - what is this?
OverlayCompatibilityCheck failed
This message can appear when something is not native or when there are issues in CFW overlay if I remember correct.
En Tech err! Tech state 0xFF, 0xFF010000
Error starting command "En Tech" (Drive is not ready)
this error appears when working with terminal or over ATA/ATA direct?
Can you read ROM to check SN inside, maybe is not original? This is quick to check and always good to know you are working with native components

This error displays when working over ATA, not terminal. Does not matter which utility i am trying to use, or read module manually.

Here are ID Parameters in ROM:
SN: 00000000
PCB SN: 0000M5071XF5
WWN: 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Model: TP3000GB
Capacity: 5860533168
Obviously it's some kind of modified HDD
Re: Question about TPPG drives - what is this?
This error displays when working over ATA, not terminal.
Can you change system files access method to Terminal then try to read some generic sysfile to check reading is possible?
Re: Question about TPPG drives - what is this?
Unfortunetly i cannot read anything outside ROM via BootCode
Rd Sys File: vol = 3, FID = 093, Copy = 000...
Invalid HDD reply:
Overlay PartNum: 10060942
CFW PartNum: 05272014

Re: Question about TPPG drives - what is this?
At this stage, I would assume you have some non-native adaptive data or CFW overlay is damaged. Suggestions would be to check ROM for native SN (which is no good as it is all customised), read some service objects to determine damage or readable state (however you already try this), short read channels and check T> access, upload LDR... there are options to try but I am not convinced that everything you have is original.
I never see a refurbished model like this, it is interesting and if I do see something similar I will be sure to write here anything I find on it, but without seeing it myself it is difficult to advise on.
Maybe open some ticket at Ace TS to see if they are familiar with it at all?

Hello,
It seems like the drive was refurbished.
